A durbar on Maternal and Child Health has been held at Makayili a suburb of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District. It was jointly organized by the Nanumba North district Health Management Team and the Chiefs and people of Makayili. Speaking at the ceremony, the Nanumba North District of Health Services, Madam Agnes Tia, noted that the passage of the abortion law by Parliament is a new paradigm shift in the health delivery sector.
Madam Tia hinted that a joint effort by Pathfinder International Ghana, an NGO and the District Health Management Team (DHM) is to pool resources to sensitize various communities to the comprehensive Abortion Law yet to be implemented, dangers of unsafe abortion and the availability of comprehensive Abortion Care Services at the Bimbilla Hospital for eligible clients. The District Director expressed her gratitude to the staff of the hospital for their support and cooperation during her stewardship as the District Director of the Service.
The District Disease Control Officer, Titus Nwuni reminded the people that treatment of TB cases is free. He therefore called on the people to promptly report all suspected cases of TB to the Hospital.
