Slight decline in abortions
Neuchâtel, 14.06.2010 (FSO) – 10,629 abortions were reported in Switzerland in 2009. 5% of them involved women living abroad and 95% women living in our country. For women living in Switzerland, this corresponds to a rate of 6.4 abortions per 1000 women aged 15 to 44 or 129 abortions per 1000 births. Since 2004, a slight downward trend in the abortion rate has been observed. These results come from the abortion statistics published annually by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
